Alpaca Welcome After 8 years in the alpaca industry and many requests from new and other breeders, we have finally started to put together our website.
But - being busy IT people when not at our farm, our own website was put on the back burner over the years.

Now that we have built up our alpaca numbers and enquiries are coming our way, it is time to concentrate on it.   So, bear with us, as this is not likely to happen overnight and our site will be constantly updated until we get it right.
So, for those who don't know anything about us, following is a quick synopsis of our farm, alpacas and us.

Don't bother us, we're resting!!

We, Paul Cramley and Linda Davies, bought our first 3 huacaya females in 1999 at an auction in Goulburn.   With Paul's interest in alpacas going back many years when he worked for a period in Chile, the dream had finally come true and we formed Pacofino (fine alpaca).   We agisted these females at friends until we found our beautiful 160 ha (400 acres) farm at Wingello in the Southern Highlands of NSW - 1.5 hours south of Sydney. In mid 2000, when our herd had reached 40, it was time to move them on to our farm before our close friends decided the friendship was being stretched too far!!

Through working seven-day weeks between our software business in Sydney and our farm at weekends, it has taken a lot of "blood, sweat and tears" to create the right layout of fields, laneways, sheds and alpaca shelters to make life as comfortable as possible for our alpacas and us.

Our foremost objective was to improve and diversify our genetic lines so we set out to use or purchase some of the highest quality huacaya and suri stud males in Australia, as well as importing champion males from the USA.

We currently own or co-own 15 certified sires, 3 of which are previous Australian National Champions. As a result of this selection of sires we have been fortunate enough to breed many show winners and have undoubtedly improved the quality of our herd.

While we recognise the commercial value of white fleece we also breed colours, especially in the suri line where we are now breeding some lovely golds, greys and blacks.

Our herd now stands at around 300 and is made up of approximately one third huacaya and two thirds suri (which is the rarer breed of alpaca and our passion).

Two years ago we invested in a half share of an excellent, white suri male, Snowmass Illumination, which we co-own with Jack and Kelly Armstrong of Latah Creek Alpacas in Washington, USA.   As well as carrying an extremely dense and fine fleece, he is also very lustrous. He has been on our farm for 18 months contributing to the suri birth rate at Pacofino and returns to the USA in February 2008 for Jack and Kelly to use for the next 2 years.

Illumination has been put to all our white suri females and some coloureds and his cria to date are stunningly lustrous.   In our photo gallery we have included a photo of Illumination, one of some of his crias and a few other general farm photos.

More information about our animals, herd sires and progeny will be added to this website over the next few weeks but do feel free to contact us if you have any queries.

We would also like to pay tribute to Phillip and Kim Pisaruk ( Earthwise Alpacas ) who very ably look after our farm and alpacas when we are in Sydney.
